Still this issue occurs, but less frequently after changing SSID So I set a normal WPA2 SSID as their default wlan, and you can see it's connected at the Win8.1 domain logon prompt. The users were originally connecting to an SSID with Radius, so maybe they were not authenticating on the wlan in time for the spooler to connect the printers. The only way to get printing to work again is to restart the print spooler. You can double click on them to open the queue, but the printer remains greyed out.

Looking in Devices and Printers, the printers are indeed greyed out. Now and then, when a user tries to print, it fails because it says the printer is off-line. Our printers are deployed using GPO as part of Computer Configuration, Policies, Windows Settings, Printer Connections. We have a few laptops that are wireless only, running Windows 8.1
